Welfare

We stand beside veterans and their families with support that is practical, emotional and financial-support that protects dignity, independence and wellbeing for as long as it is needed.

In practice that means emergency grants when money runs out, help reaching medical care, education bursaries for the next generation, and assistance with end-of-life planning. It means welfare visits, transport, and someone who knows the system well enough to guide a family through it.

Most of the veterans we support are over eighty. Whether someone is rebuilding stability, taking up a new opportunity, or reaching the end of a long life, the commitment does not change to those who served, and to the families who served alongside them.

Who we support

WhatsApp Image 2026-03-25 at 09.44.20.jpeg

The Branch is here for the whole Armed Forces community in Hong Kong: veterans of the Royal Navy, the British Army and the Royal Air Force, the Gurkhas and the Volunteers, locally enlisted personnel, and veterans of Commonwealth and NATO forces who have made this city their home. If you are serving, have served, or care for someone who has, you and your family can come to us. We have been here since 1921. We are not going anywhere.

How we support

No veteran in Hong Kong should go without the essentials because of what service cost them

We give regular grants where income does not stretch to cover need, and one-off grants in an emergency. Every request is considered on its own facts and treated in confidence. We work alongside the Social Welfare Department and Caritas so that every source of help available to you is used, not only ours.

If you need help, or you know a veteran who does, call us on +852 2544 6270 or write to welfare-manager@rbl.hk.

Asking is not an imposition. It is what the Branch is for.
