At the going down of the sun
And in the morning,
We will remember them.
The RBL in Hong Kong and China is here to support locally enlisted personnel (LEP), veterans of the Royal Navy, British Army, and Royal Air Force, as well as veterans from all nations and their families who are in Hong Kong and China. And we're not going anywhere.
At the RBL, we provide unwavering support to our veterans in Hong Kong. Our commitment to these remarkable individuals started after their service and extends throughout their entire lives, ensuring that they are never alone in their journey.
For those courageous men and women in Hong Kong who chose to step forward and serve when others hesitated or retreated, we want you to know that the RBL stands firmly by your side.
Our support encompasses welfare, comradeship, commemoration and ceremony. We believe that every veteran deserves to thrive and live with honour and dignity.

Remembrance Sunday 2026 — Sunday 8 November, the Cenotaph
Remembrance Sunday will be observed at the Cenotaph in Central on Sunday, 8 November, commencing at 11:00. Last year marked our largest assembly in recent history. Newly refurbished Cheung Sha Wan Club House
The HKESA Clubhouse in Cheung Sha Wan has reopened on Friday 31st July after refurbishment. New flooring, fresh paint throughout, new pantry, new bar, refreshed offices and dedicated welfare room, refreshed décor, technology, state-of-the-art Mahjong tables, a karaoke system and new furniture chosen with our older veterans in mind, easier to get into and out of than what it replaced. There is also purpose-built storage, which means the Poppy Appeal materials finally have a proper home rather than being worked around every autumn.
The clubhouse has been the heart of the Association for years: committee meetings, mahjong, the monthly Happy Hour, and the ordinary business of people keeping in touch with one another. It is better now, and it is open for members daily between 10 am and 5 pm. All members are warmly welcome- come and see it.

Poppy Appeal 2026
The Poppy Appeal runs from early October to 12 November, with our Flag Day across Hong Kong on Saturday 7 November.
Use the Poppy Map to find where you can get your poppy.
As in 2025, the Branch is again offering the 80th Anniversary of the End of Hostilities in the Pacific Poppy Pin.
There are 2,200 of them, and no two are the same. Every pin carries a unique number, and every number belongs to a named individual lying in a Hong Kong war grave - 2,200 men from 17 countries. Each pin comes with a card giving that person's name, their service, and where they rest.
The design sets the Bauhinia against the poppy of Flanders in gold: Hong Kong's flower and the emblem of the fallen, together. It was designed, forged and produced by veterans. It honours those who did not come home eighty years ago, and it funds the care of those from every nation who made this city their home.
Watch the film about the pins and Go Here to Order or contact poppy-officer@rbl.hk to find out who we still have in our roll of honour.
The RBL in Hong Kong
The RBL in Hong Kong is a registered charity dedicated to enhancing the well-being of ex-service personnel and their families. We offer a comprehensive range of services, including welfare, medical, financial, social, emergency, and emotional support to all veterans residing in Hong Kong. As a unifying organization, we collaborate with the Hong Kong Ex-Servicemen Association, Hoi Luen Society, British Ex-Gurkha Associations, Gurkha Welfare Trust, and the Royal Hong Kong Volunteer Regiment, as well as their members. Our team is committed to making a meaningful impact in the lives of those who have served our country.

Welfare
Welfare means standing beside veterans and their families, offering practical aid, compassionate care, and support that preserves dignity. From ill health and financial hardship to bereavement and residential care, we move quickly and without fuss: honouring service through assistance that reaches people when it is needed, not when it is convenient.

Comradeship
Comradeship is the enduring bond forged through shared service, sacrifice, and support, a loyalty that outlasts the uniform. It is the spirit of unity that uplifts veterans and their families across Hong Kong and the Mainland: honouring the past, standing together in the present, and ensuring no one faces life's battles alone.

Commemoration
Commemoration honours the fallen through remembrance, reflection, and unity. It keeps memory alive with dignity-gathering veterans, families, and the wider community at the Cenotaph, at Sai Wan and Stanley, to mark sacrifice, pass on the stories, and ensure that courage and service endure across generations. We remember, always.

Ceremonial
Ceremonial unites veterans through formal gatherings, parades, and symbolic acts of respect performed exactly as they should be. These occasions carry military heritage into civilian life, give veterans and their families a place to stand with pride, and honour service with precision and decorum-binding one generation to the next.

Events
Events foster camaraderie through reunions, battlefield tours, charity fundraisers, and community gatherings. They celebrate shared identity, offer support, and strengthen bonds among veterans, families, and friends—creating spaces for laughter, storytelling, and connection beyond service, in honour of lives well lived.
